Phenotype Visual contrast sensitivity
Used in Study Variants in the 1q21 risk region are associated with a visual endophenotype of autism and schizophrenia (HGVST1611)
Description Fully described in: Goodbourn PT et al. (2013). Variants in the 1q21 risk region are associated with a visual endophenotype of autism and schizophrenia. Genes, Brain and Behavior. [PMID: 24152035] [DOI: 10.1111/gbb.12096]. Stimulus was a low spatial frequency Gabor, which reversed in contrast according to a 25-Hz square wave, presented for 500 ms. Stimulus was centered 9.0 ° either to the left or right of fixation. Participants made a two-alternative forced choice identification of the stimulus location on each trial. Contrast at detection threshold was determined according to two interleaved adaptive staircases converging on the 82% correct point. Sensitivity was defined as the inverse of threshold contrast.Participants wore optical correction as necessary such that they performed the test with best achievable visual acuity.
